Residents' Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I being billed?

With  utility costs constantly on the rise, the owner of your community has  chosen to have the residents pay for their utilities separately. Billing  on an individual basis results in lower bills and promotes  conservation.

How soon after I move in will I get my bill?

Since  utilities are usually billed in arrears, the billing cycle will follow  that of the primary utility provider. Your first billing statement will  usually arrive 4 - 6 weeks after your move in date.

What will be the usage cycle?

Usage  cycles vary for each community based on the local provider's normal  billing cycle. Usually statements are on a monthly basis. Sometimes  billings occur every two months. You may contact our customer service  department or your resident management for more information on your  specific cycle.

Do I have to pay a utility deposit?

No, additional deposits are not required for utilities.

How much water does the average person use per day at their residence?

Considering that estimates will vary, it has been determined that each person uses about 80-100 gallons of water per day.

How can I reduce my utility usage?

Click on the conservation tips portion of this website to find many useful tips to conserve water and save money.

How do you read my meter?

In most cases, DependaBill Solutions uses an "Automatic Meter Read" system or AMR. This is a state-of-the art technology where daily utility usage is captured and sent directly to our offices through the use of a radio transmitter and a modem. There is no need to enter your residence to obtain monthly meter reads.

My complex does not have a meter in my residence. How do you calculate my bill?

When there is no individual meter located within each resident unit, a system is used called Ratio Utility Billing (RUBS). A formula is used to determine each resident's utility expense. This formula is usually based on the number of occupants and square footage of each unit. Other factors, such as information about the community and residence's general utility usage are often calculated in. This method has been used for many years and has been determined to be fair and equitable.

Is there a service fee included in my bill?

All service providers or utility companies charge some sort of a nominal service fee. This service is a normal cost of operation and will be itemized on your bill.

How do I pay my bill?

You may pay your bill on line through this website or you may mail it in with your statement.

Do I have to contact someone about moving in or out?

Your community manager is responsible for opening and closing your account. Notifying your community management staff of your intent to vacate should be sufficient for DependaBill.
